Can A Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamp Unlock The Key to Wellbeing?

by Karen Brooks on March 28, 2011

As most of you are aware, I hold a full time business world job in the world of sales and marketing management.  In my position, I do quite a bit of traveling, including working and attending various trade shows.

Recently, I attended a show and a vendor was displaying Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamps. The beauty of these lamps, especially in mass, just took my breath away!  When walking near the booth, I immediately felt very relaxed and peaceful. All of the stress associated with the busyness of the show just melted away. An uplifting feeling overwhelmed me and I began asking why I felt that way. What I found just rocked my world!! I was totally convinced and made my purchase!

Therapeutic Uses

Speleotherapy is a therapy common in Eastern and Central Europe, but virtual unknown elsewhere. It is unique to caves and mines for treating respiratory illnesses. Originating in Poland in the 1950’s, it was noticed that salt miners rarely suffered from tuberculosis, a dreaded disease of that era.

Another well-known hub for this treatment is the Ukranian Allergologic Hospital in Solotvyno. What is highly unusual is that this hospital is located nearly 1,000 feet below the earth’s surface in a former salt mine! Its staff reports a 90% effective rate in reducing asthma symptoms for up to 3 months following treatment.

Salt therapy is well known in Europe, where some have been in     operation since the mid 1800’s. Slowly, this therapy is being introduced into the United States as well as other parts of the world.

Just as our health is affected by the air we breathe, our health is also affected by the quality of the light we are surrounded by.

What are the benefits of an Ionic Himalyan Salt Crystal Lamp?

Some of the more dramatic claims include migraine headache relief, enhanced serotonin levels in the blood, reduced severity of asthma attacks, immune system enhancement, and reduced vulnerability to colds and flu. While there is hard science to many of these claims, we can tell you this:

1. When the lamp is lit and becomes heated, negative ions are released into the air.

2. They purify the air.

3. Their relaxing glow effortlessly reduces stress and depression.

4. They can help relieve symptoms of asthma, sinus and allergies.

My own personal experience happened when I placed the lamp in my office at work! First, the air become much cleaner and I was able to breath more freely. The general atmosphere was totally uplifted, and I became more focused and productive. Whenever an employee came into the office, they felt the same energy and commmented as well. The glow and warmth it had, made the environment much more open to discussion and problem resolution!

Where to use a Salt Crystal Lamp?

Some ideal applications include:

Office/Cubicle

Children’s rooms ( Great as a night light )

Bedrooms

Nursing Homes

Restaurants

Hospital rooms

Hotel rooms and lobby

Environments with pets, high pollen counts and smoking

Each lamp is hand crafted and unique. No two shapes and colors are identical. When asking about the various color hues, I found out that colors and hues are very important to your mood and emotional state.

Red – Powers up our vital forces and gives instant emotional boosts

Apricot – Promotes open mindedness and increases energy

White – Transforms chaos to a healing sense of calm and gives total body harmony

These lamps are referred to as “ionic”. So what does that mean?

Whenever there is a refreshing rain, do you sometimes just smell the cleaner air? What you are experiencing is an abundance of negatively charged ions. There can be as many as 4000 ions per cubic centimeter. Compare that to 100 in a major city at rush hour!

The effects of the negative ions cause harmful microscopic particles in the air to clump together, weighing them down, and causing them to fall to the floor. Particulates include all forms of air pollutants (smoke, chemical odors, bacteria, viruses, mold, etc.) Negative ions are a powerful natural antidote for many environmentally induced health problems such as allergies, headaches, infections and respiratory ailments.

What causes negative ion depletion?

Many factors in our modern society contribute to the depletion of negative ions. Examples include:

fluorescent lighting

high concentration of electronic equipment

static producing fibers

air conditioners

electric heaters and other heating systems

many plastics

older TV’s and monitors

airflow from furnace ducts and HVAC systems

In conclusion, mother nature has once again, given us natural salt, a substance so simple and easily attainable to help us with our journey in natural remedies and therapies.  It is all about getting back to health naturally!

Hi. I recently bought a himalayan salt lamp. I really found it absolutely soothing. Today I noticed that the salt was as if disolving or melting…..I don’t know what to say !! I had to wipe off the transparent and odorless liquid that fell on the floor. Could you please tell me what is happening and how to preserve it ? Thanks a lot.

Karen,
Just wanted you to know how much I love my Himalayan Salt Lamp. Not a day goes by that it isn’t on in the office. It sets the mood and keeps the stress a thing of the past.

I purchased two more today as gifts for my kids. My son visited home one day and without mentioning one word told me he felt the difference in the office. That sold me even more.

Now, combined with my supplements I will reverse the signs of oxidative stress on my body and look and feel years younger. Thanks Karen, let’s share these with the world.

Are we able to choose a color when we place the order? I am particularly interested in the white. We are always trying new things to help my son who has autism stay centered.

Hi Heather!
The colors on the lamps vary. They are usually a light to medium orange. I do not have any that are all white.
Have you tried one of the Young Living Oils to help your son?
Email me if you would like more information.
Happy Mothers Day!

Suzie, Thanks for the post. In my opinion, the lamp is not bright enough for reading. It is a wonderful night light.

This is fascinating. I had no idea about salt therapy and the benefits of this lamp. I have heard of ionic air cleaners, so this would be doing that and naturally. Love a day when I learn something – thanks!

I’ll be sharing your site and info with my clients, patients, friends and family.

Have a blessed week!
