A New Meaning For “Pride”

by Karen Brooks on June 20, 2011

A friend of ours just returned from studying abroad. He took some leadership classes, and during one of these classes, they spoke about “Pride”.  The meaning of pride as nothing like I had ever heard before, and thought you might like to learn from the meaning, just like I did.

Prepartion: Everyone has the will to win, but winnners have the will to prepare to win. Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

Risk: You have to take risks to achieve success. “To dream anything you want to dream-that’s the beauty of the human mind. To do anything you want to do-that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits-that’s the courage to succeed'”

Integrity: It is the foundation of everything that you do.

Drive and Determination: Both of these are much more important than talent. ” Adversity excites talent which in prosperous days times dormant.”

Everybody: What makes someone great is their ability to work with a team!

I pondered about what I just heard, and my mind raced to a conversation that I had earlier today with a few friends in regard to their health.  What if we exhibited pride when it comes to our health?

What if we prepared by seeking out the knowledge we need keep our bodies, mind, and spirit in peak health? By preparing, we could alleviate future health issues.

What if we took a few risks by trying a new health protocol, or listening to what others found is beneficial and cutting edge?

What if we lived our lives in integrity, keeping ourselves accountable for our actions?

What if we had the drive and determination to seek out whatever is necessary to get, or keep us healthy?

What if we surrounded ourselves with the best possible health coaches, doctors, information and products to achieve maximum health?

At some point in our lives we, or our loved ones, will encounter obstacles and health issues. What is the only thing that you can control in these situations? It is your attitude! Your positive attitude and a spirit of gratitude will get you through every situation, and keep you full of vigor and life!

Next time, when you hear the word “PRIDE”, remember the new meaning that you just learned. Share it with everyone you meet, and become a leader in every area of your life!

This is a pleasantly refreshing definition of the concept of pride. It considers not only the self (which doesn’t actually exist), but others. Until everyone does this, we as a world will continue to experience all that distasteful and unfortunate. United we stand, divided we fall…has never been MORE true. Every human being must expand their world view to consider each and every other human being and to include them as members of the same team…TEAM EARTH!

This is incredible and I have printed it out to hang on my wall, Karen. When we focus on serving others and their needs our P.R.I.D.E. will help us succeed and accomplish our goals. This is a very uplifting, encouraging article and I plan to share it with my whole list of friends, clients and family as well.

Oh I love this Karen!
And I agree with you that we should apply this new definition to our health.
I’m sure if we did, we would all be healthier and happier :)
